There are more than 38 million Hispanics in the U.S.
61% of the Hispanic population was born in the U.S.
The Hispanic population increased by 61% in the past 10 years.
Hispanic buying power exceeds $600 billion.
Hispanic buying power is increasing at a rate of 118%.
Hispanics median age is 26 years, 10 years younger than the U.S. as a whole.
Median Hispanic annual income is slightly greater than $40,000Hispanic economic well being is improving at a faster rate than that of non-Hispanics.
Hispanic aggregate household income increased six-fold between 1981 and 2001, while it only tripled for non-Hispanics.
31 % (or 3.2 million) Hispanic households have an income that exceeds $50,000.
1.5 million Hispanic households have an income that exceeds $75,000
And yet somehow, for many corporations out there, the way to try and capitalize on these figures is by creating a position of “Director of Hispanic Business Development” within their organization.
To me, this is the equivalent of Walmart making efforts to try and fix their PR image by hiring two greeters instead of one.
(No offense to all the great Hispanic Business Development managers out there)
