It seems like every time Reed Hastings steps up to the podium (be it an actual podium or his blog) something bad happens for Netflix.
So why is he still talking?
To actually think that his direct competition is really HBO and not Amazon, Google, Facebook, etc… is ridiculous!
You are telling me that becoming more like HBO and producing your own original content for exclusive streaming is the direction of this company?
Has he not learned anything yet?
My advice to Mr. Hastings is to stick to what this company knows and does best for now until it rebuilds some credibility with the public.
This doesn’t mean stop trying to innovate by any means, it simply means stop coming out of the gate apologizing for being “overconfident” only to make statements that present you and your company as… well overconfident.
And lets keep it real here, to think that “House of Cards” and “Arrested Development” are the ticket to turning this company around is preposterous.
HBO, Showtime, AMC, they have original content year round. Shows that are established with the masses WAY before it hits the Netflix public, in fact its that same credibility that makes it such a hit on Netflix?!?
How is this guy still the CEO?
